Highland Park, MI (August 29, 2026) – A 36-year-old Detroit man died early Thursday, August 27, after a Chevy Equinox crashed into a telephone pole on Woodward Avenue near the Davison Freeway in Highland Park.
Police said the Equinox was traveling north on Woodward when the driver crossed the center line and struck the pole. Emergency crews attempted to treat the passenger at the scene, but he was pronounced dead.
The driver was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Police are reconstructing the crash as the investigation continues.
