We hope the injured person receives the care they need and makes a full recovery.
How Does Airbag Deployment Impact a Personal Injury Claim in Michigan?
Airbag deployment can play an important role in a personal injury claim because it often indicates that a crash involved a significant amount of force.
In Michigan, proving that injuries were caused by a collision is an important part of seeking compensation. Since airbags are designed to deploy only under certain impact conditions, their activation can serve as objective evidence that the crash was more than a minor incident. As a result, deployed airbags may help support claims that the collision was serious and that the occupants were exposed to substantial forces during the impact.
Although airbags are designed to reduce the risk of severe injury and save lives, the deployment itself can sometimes cause injuries such as burns, bruising, facial injuries, rib injuries, or concussions. In addition, the force of the collision that triggered the airbags may lead to whiplash, back injuries, fractures, or other conditions that are not immediately apparent. Because some symptoms can take hours or days to develop, prompt medical evaluation is often important after a crash.
Medical treatment following a serious collision can quickly become expensive. Emergency room visits, diagnostic testing, follow-up appointments, rehabilitation, and time away from work can create significant financial challenges for injured individuals and their families. Keeping records of medical care, expenses, and missed work can help document the impact of the crash and support any future claim.
To strengthen a potential case, it is important to preserve evidence related to the collision. This may include photographs of the vehicles, airbag deployment, crash-scene conditions, police reports, and vehicle data when available. An attorney can help gather and review this information, communicate with insurance companies, and evaluate the full extent of current and future losses.
