Highland Park, MI (April 5, 2026) – A Highland Park police officer was injured after a patrol vehicle was struck by a driver involved in reported drag racing activity on Sunday, April 5.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred near Hamilton Avenue, just south of the Davison Freeway. Authorities say a young driver, allegedly engaged in drag racing and stunt driving, collided with the officer’s cruiser at a high rate of speed.
Following the crash, the occupants of the suspect vehicle fled the scene on foot. A K-9 unit was deployed to assist in locating those involved.
The injured officer was transported to a hospital and is currently reported to be in stable condition.
The investigation remains ongoing.
