Detroit, MI (February 21, 2026) – A two-vehicle crash claimed the life of a 10-year-old girl on February 20 on Detroit’s west side, according to the Detroit Police Department. Authorities reported that one driver ran a red light and struck the vehicle in which the child was riding.
The collision occurred near the intersection of Tireman Avenue and Southfield Road. Police confirmed that the crash took place on February 20. Officers responded to the scene and began an immediate investigation into the circumstances surrounding the impact.
Investigators stated that the young girl sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Emergency responders pronounced her deceased following the collision. In addition, one adult occupant from the same vehicle suffered injuries and required transport to a local hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities have not released details regarding the extent of the adult’s injuries.
