What Should You Know About Being Injured in a Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash in Dearborn, MI?

Being injured in a fatal multi-vehicle crash in Dearborn, MI, can create medical, financial, and insurance concerns, especially when another person also dies. Those who are injured may need to document their treatment and losses while the circumstances of the crash are being reviewed.

One of the first steps in documenting those losses is keeping thorough medical records. Hospital care, follow-up appointments, prescriptions, rehabilitation, and other services may help establish the extent of an injury while also creating records of the expenses associated with treatment.

Those medical expenses may be only part of the financial losses that follow an injury. Missed work, reduced hours, transportation costs, vehicle repairs, towing, and other out-of-pocket expenses can also affect a person’s finances and should be documented as they arise.

Along with tracking these losses, preserving evidence from the crash may help provide a clearer picture of what occurred. Photographs, witness statements, available video footage, vehicle damage, medical records, and official reports may all be useful when reviewing how the vehicles were involved.

The evidence collected can also become relevant when dealing with insurance companies. Because multiple vehicles and injured parties may be involved, keeping policy information, claim communications, medical documentation, and records of financial losses organized may help when reviewing available coverage.

With this information gathered, a personal injury lawyer can review the circumstances of the crash, insurance information, medical records, and documented losses. An attorney may also explain what legal options could apply to an injured person and assist with communications during the claims process.
